The Impact of COVID on Women in Business

In 2020, COVID impacted virtually all aspects of daily life. Businesses closed, daycares were shuttered, and children transitioned to virtual schooling. As a result, tens of thousands of Virginians left the workforce – many of them women. In 2021, one in four women nationally are now considering reducing their hours, moving from full-time to part-time, or taking a leave of absence. We don’t yet fully understand the impact of this unequal exodus, but data suggest it will slow our economic recovery. In this Executive Discussion Series event, moderator Cathy Lewis and our panel of experts will examine the impact of unequal female representation in and on the modern workplace – along with ways we can right the scales going forward.
