MARCH 26: DEVIANCE, DRUNKENNESS, AND DISTRUST: SORDID TALES OF CIVIL WAR GENERALS

Despite producing some of America’s greatest generals like Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee, many commanding officers were addicted to drink, drugs, and debauchery. One general, Earl Van Dorn, was not only known to be a dandy and very fond of drink, but he also had a tremendous taste for women and his dalliances resulted in his assassination by a jealous husband.
