Join us for our monthly series to 'step into the past' with vivid storytelling from dynamic historic character actors. Each month, a new interpreter will bring their compelling journey to life and respond to questions about the era in which they lived.


June 1: Peyton Randolph (September 10, 1721 - October 22, 1775) Peyton Randolph was a wealthy Virginia planter and landowner.  From an influential Virginia family, Randolph studied law at the Middle Temple Inn of Court and would serve as King's Attorney and Speaker of the House of Burgesses. In this program, you will join Peyton Randolph as he returned to Virginia in June after serving with the Continental Congress in May.  He will discuss how things changed rapidly from 1774 to 1775.  How Patrick Henry’s “Give me Liberty or Give me Death” speech put Virginia into a posture of defense.  How this moderate man wonders if reconciliation is at…
