February 8 - George Mason
Although the family loving homebody, George Mason, was reluctant to leave home, he went on to serve as a County Justice, a member of the Colonial General Assembly, and a delegate to the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Â In his various roles, he was the primary author of the Virginia Constitution of 1776 and later helped write the Constitution of the United States.
March 8 - Martha Gellhorn
During World War II, 127 women managed to obtain official accreditation from the U.S. War Department as war correspondents.  Martha Gellhorn, one of those brave women, shares stories of her time in the trenches, all the while being Earnest Hemingway’s third wife.
April 12 - Frederick Douglass
Frederick Douglass was a formerly enslaved man who became a prominent activist, author and public speaker. He became a leader in the abolitionist movement, which sought to end the practice of slavery, before and during the Civil War.
May 10 - Deborah Sampson
Meet Revolutionary War Soldier, Deborah Sampson, who disguised herself as a man to enlist and fight for 18 months before being discovered. Â Hear of her many exciting experiences of being the first woman to accomplish this feat.
June 7 - Martha Washington
The Country had plans for what the first President, George Washington, should do when elected, but no thought of the role of the President’s wife.  Hear from Martha Washington as she takes on the role for the new country and what it was like to be the first woman to support an American President.
